How green is my Posie??  As a passionate gardener, recycler, home baker, dog walker & composter . . . Posie believes in keeping our world as natural as possible.  Here are some of Posie's easy tips, which she considers more a budget style of living than just feeling good about helping our environment.  Most come naturally to this housewife, running a home for 6 active people!!

Washing & Cleaning - use bio & eco friendly washing powders; only do loads of washing with a full machine; hang washing on the clothes line to dry; limit using the electronic dryer; consider using airers indoors during Winter; throw on a hoodie rather than use the heating in Winter; open the windows rather than cooling with air conditioning; wipe surfaces down with herb based sprays & reusable cloths; sweep & mop rather just only use the vaccuum; use bio & eco dish washign liquids; limit the use of your dishwasher & only swtich on when full; turn off all power points & lights - train your children to do this from a young age!!

Driving - OK, so Posie has 4 children & a 4WD which she needs for the seats & her market gear (marquee, tables, stock) however, combine all errands with school runs; only drive when necessary, cycle for short trips; keep the car well serviced so it's as healthy as possible; car pool with friends & other families to sport, school & parties, even markets!!

Children - use cloth nappies (they don't require bleaches or harsh chemicals to stay clean, cold water rinse does work wonders, then wash as normal; dry nappies on the line; make your own nappy liners & wipes, it's so easy & if you're washing nappies anyway . . . ; buy or cook in bulk, then put goods into small containers (bless Tupperware) be it mashed vegetables for babies or sultantas, crackers & cheese for bigger ones; use drink bottles you can wash & refill; buy 2L of juice, water it down into small cups for travel; don't throw out old books, make them into cards or art work; patch old clothes, sheets, blankets & toys; donate all your old toys & baby goods to charity or pass on to friends.

General - limit the use of plastics, so shop with green reuseable bags & recycle all excess packaging; Posie limits packaging on products & uses lovely paper bags at markets with biodegradeable boxes & containers on most packaging; all vegetable, egg shells & fruit scraps are composted in the AeroBin.
